In our preschool program the early childhood educators of our center know the importance of providing learning environments that offer choices and that are age and developmentally appropriate to the specific interest and needs of all the children who attend our center, allowing them to progress at their own rate. As an inclusive day care program your child will learn how to get along with others in social relationships within a diverse and inclusive setting.
We feel children learn best through play and that getting dirty and exploring is all a part of the learning experience. We encourage free play with various activities offered to participate in throughout the day, as well as allowing for spontaneous child driven activities. Our teachers provide support, facilitate, and ensure the activities are safe even during risky play, where they want to challenge themselves.
We recognize that every child is an individual and develops at their own rate and it is our job to provide them with a safe, warm, nurturing environment that stimulates their curiosity, inventiveness, problem-solving, and communication skills, and we do this with one-on-one teachable moments. Children can choose a project/activity bag and interpret the contents of the bag as they see it, they can explore it individually or engage the teacher with them to explore it together or invite a friend to join them.
As a multi-age group setting, we know that as the children grow, so too should their play environment. Our outdoor play space caters to all ages, and their developmental needs. A toddler play structure that allows our youngest to climb up on, to large boulders, logs, and tractor tires for the older children to climb upon and challenge their balance.
Our center is centrally located around 6 parks we can walk to and explore, especially for our older children, to expand their senses. Walking outdoors opens all your senses, hearing, seeing, touching, smelling, and even tasting if we pass an edible plant along the way. It’s also a great time to sing while you’re walking or do scavenger hunts along the way, to make the walk that much more enjoyable.
Every adventure is shaped around play, high quality interactions and the need to put the child at the heart of everything we do. (Adventures with Alice)
